The Darkest Age: Resurrected draws on a simple revision of history to provide a setting for endless battle and death. The Black Plague killed off a third of Europe’s population in just a few years. Towns and villages disappeared in its wake, and cities became nightmares of waking death. The Darkest Age: Resurrected imagines a worse fate yet; what if those victims rose and walked again, leaving no hope for survivors?
We have taken certain liberties with the timeline, and we know that a century has slipped forward or back a bit in The Darkest Age.
We encourage you to mold your stories to your liking as well. The actual historical events of the Black Death can provide plenty of fodder for the Game Master, with bodies being thrown over besieged walls and ghost ships arriving in the harbor only to spread plague, fear, and death. But what other havoc might have come? Did the Vikings cease their inland explorations because of an encounter? What if the Moors of Cordoba had special medicines and pressed far into a decimated Europe? An army of dead Visigoths marching down on Rome? Every gleaning from a history book (or webpage) can lead to your next adventure, who knows when and where the Plague dead shall rise?
